With everything, with everything, we will shout for your glory
With everything with everything, we will shout forth your praise.
The tension created by the lyrical interweaving of the musicians and the singers increased with each note and every phrase of the song.
My voice escalated in perfect unadulterated, selfless exaltations to my King. Tears, I was unaware of, slid slowly down my face, making their presence known as they dropped from my cheeks to my bare chest just above the neck of my shirt. Unphased by the driving cadance of the song that resounded around me, the tears continued their passage from my eyes to my cheeks. And I recruited every muscle in my diaphragm to total exhaustion and sang with the musicians as loud as my vocal chords would allow:
OOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOO OOOOOOO OOOOOOO
Vowel sounds. No words, just vowel sounds that had been written into the song.
It was not the words that could be understood that loosed the floodgates that held my tears. No, it was the “OOOs” that had reached their healing fingers into a spent soul and fanned the waning embers of a fire called ‘hope’ that had once powered all that I did, all that I said, all that I believed.
The "OOOs", were my soul's incomprehensible utterances, crying out to a God who had been faithful multitudinous times in the past, and whom I once again had held nothing back from, who I was sold out to, whom I waited on to “let hope rise and darkness tremble in His holy light…”
The "OOOs" became a dialogue between the Holy Spirit and my lethargic soul, my hopes, my desires, my longings, all voiced in one vowel sound, yet heard in crystal clarity by the Holy Spirit. Who even now is in a closed door session with my Creator, interceding, translating that singular vowel sound, the yearning incomprehensible utterances of this road dirt stained traveler.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will.
